Two Kyrgyz nationals, wanted by Interpol under Red Notices for alleged kidnapping and murder in their home country, have been arrested at a Phuket hotel after fleeing to Thailand. Thai authorities successfully tracked and apprehended the suspects, who are now expected to be deported to face legal proceedings.
Two Kyrgyz nationals, wanted under Interpol Red Notices for alleged kidnapping and murder in their home country, were arrested on April 25 at a hotel in Phuket after fleeing to Thailand. The 26-year-old men, identified as Aiat and Adilet, faced charges including kidnapping, illegal detention, assault causing death, and murder.
The Crime Suppression Division (CSD) and Phuket Immigration jointly apprehended the suspects at a hotel in Patong, Kathu, Phuket. The case originated from an incident on April 11, where the pair allegedly kidnapped a man named Jiang in Kyrgyzstan. His body was later discovered in a valley within the Archa forest, Alamudun district. Following the incident, the suspects reportedly fled and sought refuge in Thailand.
Kyrgyzstan subsequently coordinated with Interpol to issue Red Notices for both men as key suspects. This information was then relayed to the CSD's subdivision 5, which began tracking their movements. Officers discovered that the suspects had rented a hotel room in Phuket, leading to their swift arrest by the joint task force.
During questioning, both suspects denied all allegations. Thai police are now proceeding under immigration law by revoking their permission to stay in Thailand, and they are expected to be deported to Kyrgyzstan to face legal proceedings. This arrest follows a separate incident where Thai police also apprehended a Kazakh fraud suspect, wanted by Interpol, who was hiding in Phuket.
The arrests have garnered mixed reactions online. While many netizens commended Thai authorities for their successful operations, others questioned how individuals wanted by Interpol were able to enter and remain in Thailand in the first place.
